Kid Fan Fiction
Kid fan fiction is a great way for students to interact with fiction. For my GMU educational technology class, we were tasked with creating our own fan fiction for our favorite children's authors. I choose I'm a Manatee by John Lithgow, who is most notable for being an actor but also has created many children's books and several children's CDs.
Here is my lyrics to my fan fiction titled, I'm a Buffalo. I will be posting my video soon...
Here is my lyrics to my fan fiction titled, I'm a Buffalo. I will be posting my video soon...
From time to time I dream that I’m a buffalo,
Meandering the plains, nary a tree. Unhindered on the range to roam once long ago, A noble buffalo, that’s me! Stately stamping my bravado, clothed in mocha, With the help of the people, reign now restored. I was called by the natives “The Great Tatanka,” Mighty king of the Great Plain, an ancient gladiator! I'm a buffalo. I'm a buffalo. I dominate every hill and prairie. Traveling across the Americas, I go. A hardy buffalo, that's me! With the dietary habits of a buffalo, I graze on lush vegetation galore. We mow areas clean then migrate high and low. Such a jolly herbivore! A clash of titans! During the rut, the bulls butt heads, But the cows choose mates, ruling the herd. The cavalry fights predators, seeing red. I don’t mind a hitchhiker, but still, pesky Cowbird! I'm a buffalo. I'm a buffalo. I’m a wary shaggy colossal Hercules. Massive head with horns and a rugged beard for show, A brawny buffalo, that’s me! Unburdened by my lumbering giganity, I'm thought to be a land dwelling galoot! Not the most appealing beast on the planety, But to a buffalo, I'm cute! I enjoy a filthy bath in my dusty wallow, But my Serengeti friends don't all agree. For whenever I am dreaming I'm a buffalo, Somewhere a buffalo is dreaming that he is me! I'm a buffalo. I'm a buffalo. I’m dreamin’ of the seasons’ variety. An enormous powerhouse from my head to toe, I’m a volatile, shilly-shallying, wooly bully, Totem polly buffalo, that’s me! |
